The 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit was activated during a ceremony at William P.T. Hill Field, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., Aug. 10. During the event the MEU Support Elements (MSE), comprising of the Battalion Landing Team (BLT) 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment; Air Combat Element (ACE) Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 365 (Reinforced) and Combat Logistics Battalion 24 joined the command element on the parade deck with their equipment in a display of the 24th MEU's warfighting ability. Colonel Peter Petronzio, the 24th MEU Commanding Officer, gives a short speech to the Marines and sailors of the 24th MEU during the ceremony, motivating them for the six month training evolution ahead.
