CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. – An Assault Amphibious Vehicle with Alpha Company, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, enters the New River to assault a mock enemy encampment on the other side of the base here, Feb. 13, 2012. This mechanized riad was part of the 24th MEU’s Certification Exercise (CERTEX) with Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group, which took place Jan. 27 to Feb. 16, and included a series of missions intended to evaluate and certify the unit for their upcoming deployment.
