Capt. Travis Beyer, a lead instructor with Special Operations Training Group, teaches Marines with Headquarters and Service Company, 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, currently attached to the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, during the SOTG’s Security Element Course Oct. 7 at Stone Bay’s Multipurpose Range. The course focuses on close quarters tactics and shooting drills required to conduct a Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (VBSS), and serves as a stepping stone to further VBSS training scheduled in the coming months. The 24th MEU is scheduled to deploy early next year with 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment as their Battalion Landing Team.
