Private First Class Carlos Figueroa, a rifleman with 2nd Platoon, Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, provides security during a simulated raid as part of the Vertical Assault Course at the Military Operations in Urban Terrain training center aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., Oct. 13th, 2011. The Vertical Assault Course is taking place Oct. 10-21 to provide Marines and Sailors of Bravo Co. familiarization with air operations for their upcoming deployment as the Battalion Landing Team for the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit. The company serves as the battalion’s vertical assault element, meaning they insert and extract from areas by helicopter.
