Navy duty corpsmen and surgeons quickly evaluate Haitian casaultiesPetty Officer 3rd Class Jodi A. Chang, hospital corpsman, Headquarters and Support Company, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, meticulously removes stitches from a Haitian woman’s leg at a local hospital in La Gonave, Haiti Jan. 25 duirng a humanitarian assistance mission. BLT 1/9 hospital corpsmen and surgeon treated several patients of various ailments and injuries to La Gonave Island after the devastating earthquake in Haiti that occurred Jan. 12. 24th MEU was quick to respond to the need of medical provisions after a swift assessment the day prior. 24th MEU, in conjunction with Nassau Amphibious Ready Group, remains to be among the most flexible and expedient units to support a variety of humanitarian assistance at a moment’s notice.
