A Marine with MSSG-24 opens his pack to show the amount of food he was donating to needy families.::n::The amount of food the Marines had to carry depended on their rank. Junior enlisted Marines and sailors had to carry 20 pounds of food. NCO’s had to carry 25 pounds of food. Staff Noncommissioned officers and officers had to carry 30 pounds. The commanding officer, executive officer and sergeant major each carried 40 pounds of food.::n::Marines from MSSG-24 recently participated in an 8-mile hike and were allowed to replace their normal pack contents with a food donation for needy families in the area.::n::
