NEW ORLEANS (Sep. 8, 2005) - Infantrymen from Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 8th Marines, conduct door to door searches in an effort to rescue those stranded by Hurricane Katrina. The infantrymen disembarked from amphibious assault vehicles in the few dry sections of Orleans and St. Bernard Parishes to conduct search and rescue. In areas submerged in flood water, AAVs from 4th Amphibious Assault Battalion, a reserve unit headquartered in Jacksonville, Fla., maneuvered to second story windows and doors to look for survivors.
