NAVAL AIR STATION SIGONELLA, Italy (July 28, 2012) - Lance Cpl. Colton Carlson, left, from Fayetteville, N.C., Sgt. Nicholas Bernatowicz, from Fairfax, VA, and Sgt. James Childers, Edwardsville, Ill., all communications specialists assigned to the Joint Task Force Enabler detachment for the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit adjust a satellite dish to provide computer network and phone services to 24th MEU forces operating ashore in places as far away as Jordan, Kuwait and Djibouti. The JTF-E Marines were positioned in Sigonella at the beginning of the 24th MEU's deployment in March to establish a steady communications support network for the unit as it travels throughout the European and Central Command theaters of operation. The 24th MEU is deployed with the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group serving as a crisis response force capable of responding to a variety of missions from full-scale combat to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
