FORT EUSTIS, Va. -- Marines of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit conducted Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (VBSS) training in support of Maritime Interception Operations Jan. 30 through Feb. 3, as part of their Pre-deployment Training Program.
The Marines from the MEU’s Force Reconnaissance Platoon and other members of the Maritime Special Purpose Force conducted VBSS in order to achieve a baseline proficiency in the planning and execution of ship boarding and seizure using helicopter-assault and surface-assault techniques.
The 24th MEU is currently conducting its Pre-deployment Training Program in preparation for its deployment with the Iwo Jima Expeditionary Strike Group.
