To prepare for possible urban combat, Marines and sailors of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit conducted a live-fire shoot at Camp Dawson, W. Va., May 7. During the shoot, the Marines from Headquarters and Service Company, Battalion Landing Team 1st Bn., 2nd Marines, fired M-9 pistols and M-16 rifles at targets spanning from five to 25 yards. The shoot was part of the MEU's Training in an Urban Environment Exercise (TRUEX), which may be the MEU's final training evolution before deployment this summer. After TRUEX, the MEU will return to Camp Lejeune, N.C. to begin making final preparations to deploy.
