24 MEU Descends on Fort A.P. Hill

5 Jan 2006 | Cpl. Matt Lyman 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit

Recently elements of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit took a 7-hour convoy from their home in Camp Lejuene, N.C., to Ft. A.P. Hill, Va., to unite the three subordinate elements of the 24 MEU for the first time, in preparation for their first major training exercise in their pre-deployment training program.

Battalion Landing Team 1st Bn., 8th Marines, MEU Marine Service Support Group 24, and Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 365 are the three subordinate elements that will be working together to establish a cohesiveness that will eventually transfer to the battlefield after this training evolution.

These elements will be conducting a vast array of infantry, aviation and logistical training missions to sharpen their skills and get them used to working together.
