MARMARIS, Turkey -- Before meeting the main body of Marines coming from Kosovo, some members of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) had the opportunity to see a different part of Europe when the USS Nassau pulled into Marmaris, Turkey for a weekend of liberty. Marines and Sailors took tours, attended shows, shopped for leather and Turkish rugs and made new friends from several countries during the visit. Marmaris, home to Europe's second largest marina, is nestled in a naturally protected cove that provides optimum conditions for sailing, waterskiing, scuba diving and other water sports. On land, it hosts dozens of hotels and is an inexpensive, popular tourist destination for scores of visitors each season.
