Commanding Officer
Colonel Ryan M. Hoyle

Colonel Ryan M Hoyle assumed duties as the Commanding Officer on 5 November 2021.

Operational assignments include: Future Operations Officer, II MEF; Commanding Officer, 2d Battalion, 3d Marines; Current Operations Officer, 3d Marine Division; G3 Operations Officer, 1st Marine Division; Operations Officer, 1st Marine Regiment; Operations Officer, Dragoon and Huron Company Commander, and Assistant Operations Officer, 3d Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion; Company Executive Officer, Weapons Platoon Commander and Rifle Platoon Commander, Lima Company, 3d Battalion, 7th Marines.

Staff assignments include: G3 and G39, Marine Forces Europe and Africa; Aide de Camp to the Deputy Chairman of the NATO Military Committee; Amphibious Staff Officer and Exercise Planner, NATO Special Operations Headquarters; Executive Officer and Operations Officer, Recruiting Station Indianapolis.

Colonel Hoyle’s operational deployments include a deployment as a battalion commander as a Forward Deployed Force to Okinawa; a deployment to Afghanistan with 1st Marine Regiment as Task Force Belleau Wood in RC (SW); a deployment to ISAF SOF HQs as the Technical Exploitation Implementation team leader; a deployment to Iraq as a Military Advisor to the 2-1-7 Iraqi Battalion in Ramadi, Iraq; a deployment to Iraq with Dragoon Company, 3d Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion during OIF II-2; and a deployment to Okinawa under the Unit Deployment Program

Colonel Ryan Hoyle is a 1996 graduate from Oklahoma University’s NROTC Program with Bachelor of Science in Health and Sports Sciences.  He has graduated from the Basic Officer Course, Infantry Officer Course, the Armor Captains Career Course in Fort Knox, KY, earned a Master of Arts (MA) degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval Command and Staff Course in Newport, RI, and an MA in Political Science from Haifi University while attending the Israeli National Defense College.

His personal awards include the Purple Heart Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (second award), Meritorious Service Medal (third award), Joint Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device (third award), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon, and several expeditionary and campaign medals.
