Marines with Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, establish a forward Combat Operations Center after landing ashore from USS Iwo Jima Feb. 14, 2012. The unit offloaded in preparation for their final sequence of missions for the 24th MEU’s Certification Exercise (CERTEX). The unit executed CERTEX with the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group from Jan. 27 to Feb. 16 and conducted a series of missions intended to evaluate and certify the unit for their upcoming deployment.
