Seman Lindsay Woods, an operations specialist with the USS Gunston Hall, takes down a simulated attacker while Sgt. Tyler James, a military policeman with Combat Logistics Battalion 24 watches during a Level 2 OC Spray Certification, Feb. 1. Marines with CLB 24, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit assisted the Sailors on the USS Gunston Hall in conducting a Level 2 OC Spray Certification. In order to use OC Spray, a nonlethal weapon similar to mace, service members must recertify every year. The Level 2 OC Spray Certification is meant to mimic what would happen if the service member received contamination while using the spray. The 24th MEU is conducting their Certification Exercise (CERTEX) with Amphibious Squadron 8 (PHIBRON 8) scheduled Jan. 27 to Feb. 17, which includes a series of missions intended to evaluate and certify the unit for their upcoming deployment.
