Camp Lejeune, NC

A 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit food service specialist, adds in a bag of frozen vegtables to a batch of sheppard's pie, which he is preparing for the Marines and Sailors aboard USS Mesa Verde April 5. This was the one of the meal choices provided to the troops aboard USS Mesa Verde along with a few others to chose from. At the beginning of the day, the food service specialists are given a meal to prepare, one for lunch and one for dinner. These meals are served to hundreds of Marines and Sailors so the job isn't as easy as it may be at home in your kitchen. This is the Marines and Sailors third month of deployment and the meals keep coming. These Marines and Sailors take pride in what they cook day after day and never let their personal hardships interfere with the job.
