Mehlenbeck, assaultmen from Weapons platoon, Company A, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, fire several high explosive rockets using MK153 Shoulder-fired, Multi-purpose, Assault Weapon (SMAW) during a live fire range in Djibouti March 28. Marines performed a series of sustainment and joint exercises alongside the French military service members while in Djibouti.  The 24th MEU currently serves as the theatre reserve force for Central Command and is deployed aboard Navy amphibious assault ships of the Nassau Amphibious Ready Group.
