NAVAL AIR STATION SIGONELLA, Italy - Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. James Amos, right, speaks with 1st Lt. Louis Batson, the officer in charge of the Joint Task Force Enabler detachment, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, during a visit to Naval Air Station Sigonella July 18, 2012, where Amos visited the Marines of the detachment during their deployment in support of 24th MEU. The JTF-E Marines were positioned in Sigonella at the beginning of the 24th MEU's deployment in March to establish a steady communications support network for the unit as it travels throughout the European and Central Command theaters of operation. The 24th MEU is deployed with the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group serving as a crisis response forces capable of responding to a variety of missions from full-scale combat to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
