Marines and Sailors from the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) and USS Nassau (LHA-4) recently took a day to relax and enjoy some sporting activities as they held a Steel Beach Picnic. Throughout the day, the ship offered different events the Marines and Sailors could compete in along with some other activities that were fun. The morning kicked off with a fishing trip aboard a Landing Craft Utility. The ship then flooded the well deck for swimming while the hanger deck held a basketball tournament. There was also a barbeque during which a tractor pull and tug-of-war competition was held. In the evening there was a spades and chess tournament.
