SAVANNAH, Ga. -- For the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (24th MEU), training during TRUEX XXXIX continued, even amidst a parade honoring the life and contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The parade, held Jan. 15 - King's actual birthday - boasted nearly 500 floats and entries and more than 20,000 spectators.
A Color Guard detachment of Marines from Battalion Landing Team 2/8 represented the MEU in honoring Dr. King's legacy.
The parade began 10 a.m. and ended at around 1 p.m. and covered three main streets in the downtown Savannah historic district.
