MACON, Ga. -- Marines and Sailors of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit used their day off to lend a helping hand to two Macon area Boys and Girls Clubs during the operational pause of TRUEX this week. Thirty-two members of 24th MEU gave freely of their time for the benefit of Middle Georgia's youth by volunteering at the clubs at the Riley Edison Academy and on Robins Air Force Base. The first group spent the morning teaching physical fitness, then relocated the school's media center and helped set up a new computer lab for the students.Another group went to the Robins Air Force Base Youth Center and helped relocate excess furniture, install new lights and helped redecorate the recreation annex. Both groups left the sites very tired, yet exhilarated by their efforts to help the young people in this community, one which has helped the MEU tremendously through its acceptance and support.
