MACON, Ga. -- Marines of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit had the opportunity to enjoy a baseball game during an operational pause while conducting Training in an Urban Environment Exercise (TRUEX) here. Before the game, between the Macon Braves and the Savannah Sand Gnats, the Marines took part in several pre-game festivities. The 24th MEU Color Guard, comprised of Marines from Battalion Landing Team 2nd Bn., 2nd Marines, marched on the colors and Lance Cpl. Travis J. Lowis, BLT 2/2, sang the National Anthem. The MEU Sergeant Major, Sgt. Maj. Donnie R. Barrett, also threw out the ceremonial first pitch.Tickets for the game were provided by the Macon Daily Telegraph, a local newspaper. An interesting point of the game was that 24th MEU held their last TRUEX in Savannah and this one in Macon, which allowed the Marines the opportunity to thank both cities for allowing the MEU to become better prepared for their deployments.
